What is the Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States (or MHAUS)?
MHAUS is the only association in North America dedicated to the control of malignant hyperthermia (MH), a life-threatening genetic disorder, and MH-like syndromes. A volunteer Board of Directors governs MHAUS and Professional Advisory Council advises the Board on formulation of all MHAUS medical policies and decisions.
Recently celebrating our 25th anniversary, we are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization of over 2,000 members including MH-susceptible patients and their family, medical professionals, corporations, and others who are keenly interested in MH. Our mission is to reduce death and injury from MH by improving medical care related to MH, provide support information for patients, and improve the scientific understanding of MH through ongoing research.
MHAUS has directly contributed to saving lives by making the best medical and scientific advice available to all health care providers concerning MH 24 hours every day through our MH Hotline.
The administrative office is located in the Upstate New York village of Sherburne and is run by a team of 6.
